Crawlspace Wildlife Removal
Your crawlspace is one of the most vulnerable areas of your home for wildlife entry. Dark, enclosed, and easily accessible from ground level, crawlspaces attract mice, rats, opossums, raccoons, and snakes. In the Raleigh-Triangle area, damaged or missing foundation vents are the single most common entry point we find during inspections.
Common Crawlspace Invaders
- Mice & rats — enter through gaps as small as 1/4 inch in foundation vents and utility penetrations. See our rodent control services
- Opossums — push through damaged vents or gaps in foundation skirting to nest underneath the home
- Raccoons — powerful enough to rip off vent covers entirely
- Snakes — follow rodent trails into crawlspaces, especially in warmer months
Crawlspace Exclusion
Our crawlspace exclusion process starts with a thorough inspection of the entire foundation perimeter. We identify every compromised vent, gap around utilities, and crack in the foundation. After removing any wildlife present, we install rodent-proof vent covers, seal utility gaps with appropriate materials, and repair any foundation damage that allowed entry.
Why Crawlspace Problems Get Worse
A small gap in a foundation vent might start as a mouse entry point. Mice attract snakes (which eat mice), and the gap gets larger as animals push through it. Eventually, larger animals like opossums and raccoons exploit the same opening. What started as a minor mouse problem can become a full-blown wildlife issue affecting your insulation, ductwork, vapor barrier, and indoor air quality.
